Playing together with the missus. A bit difficult.
The missus has started taking a liking to Guild Wars, which made me really happy so we started playing Prophecies. We each made new characters from scratch, at the same time and started doing quests.
Thing is we don't always get the same quests from the same NPC. At times she would get a quest from Devona (for instance) and I would get another, or none at all. Now... we want to do quests together, level up together, advance through the story line, together (notice a pattern?) but this is difficult when we have to go different ways in order to complete the quests we each have. This kind of defeats the purpose of playing together, doesn't it? Am I missing something? Why don't we both get the same quests from the same npc at a given time? We are even of the same level, remember, we created our characters simultaneously. Last edited by dumimare; Jul 02, 2009 at 08:46 AM // 08:46.. Reason: spelling |

Different professions? Both primary and secondaries?
Some quests are profession related, hence one character will not get them while the other will. Those quests are really of minor importance and only good for their rewards(free skills). |

Yes, she's and E/Mo and I'm a R/N. I think that's the reason.
Are only primary quests the same for all professions? |

No, most secondary quests are for all professions. However there are profession specific quests, moreso in the begining section of the game.
Your missus can still acompany you, and you her. Only you won't both get all the rewards, so really if you think about it, you're getting double the amount of quests to play through. Hope this helps.. |

To clarify, Prophecies has a lot of free skill reward quests which are profession specific. In pre-searing you should both take as many as possible before choosing a secondary as the skills will be useful for heroes later in the game.
http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Quests_(Prophecies) As Morkai said, you can do the quests together even if only one is getting the reward. After your characters have reached the point in the game (Crystal Desert) where you can change secondaries, you should go back to Ascalon and begin checking for quests still available with your new secondaries.

Yeah we're planning of staying in pre-searing as long as we can. Every other time I played prophecies I pretty much stormed through pre-searing.

As your planning to stay for a little while,
Take Every secondary you can obtain( saving the one you wish on your char for last)...That way you can both do all quests in secondaries to-gether Once done at reward time for your secondary use the Reply....I wish to think about it a little longer This lets you get more rewards since you wish to remain in pre for a little while. Also you can do Char at the gate for repeatable XP by mapping back to Town abandoning it and doing it over again. Pre is a great place to have a good look around then when you both feel like going to Post thenyou can. Its all about how you enjoy the game and although the mission curve is longer in proficies Its a great storyline Have a good time playing to-gether Last edited by Highlander Of Alba; Jul 02, 2009 at 11:06 AM // 11:06.. |

Dont worry the profession centric quests are almost 100% in pre, skill quests in Post offer skills for all professions and you reward depends on your current secondary/primary.

like everyone else said, some primary quests are profession specific because they aim to give you free skills, but later on your not gonna find too many of those quests, again you can both do the quests only one of you will be actually doing a quest the others for company.
